It takes a village.

I’ve been mentoring people for over twenty years. First as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Later as an Urban Zen Integrative Yoga Therapist in NYC, where I created a clinic for the American Cancer Society teaching yoga instructors how to work with cancer patients and their families. I spent years instructing yoga teachers how to bring mindfulness and meditation into the care of the extremely ill and those at end of life. Largely by helping those instructors deepen their own personal practices.

Then while living for six years in monasteries and practice centers in the tradition of his Teacher, the Vietnamese Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, I became a Buddhist monk. As a monk I offered counsel and guidance to countless people ranging from elder practitioners to teenagers. As an Ordained member of the Order of Interbeing, I believe that all of us can use the tools of mindfulness to live fuller, happier lives right now. I spent all those years training in monasteries so you don’t have to!
